I’ve been in the direct and database marketing industry for over 20 years. Before joining VDBS, I served as Senior VP at Entiera and AccuData Integrated Marketing. Before that I had circulation and marketing positions for a number of financial services organizations, as well as national consumer and trade magazines. My Bachelor’s Degree is from the University of California at Irvine and I am the past president of the Direct Marketing Association of Tennessee.
I have been at Virtual DBS since:
Its founding in 2010
Best thing about working here:
Virtual DBS provides an outstanding array of database and analytics products and our value proposition is extremely compelling, but the best thing about working at VDBS is the tremendous character of our people. My colleagues are amazingly smart, creative, and innovative—but underneath, I know them to be a bunch of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Hobbies, activities, or interests:
I enjoy surfing at Narragansett Beach in Rhode Island (or anywhere else there happens to be righteous waves) and taking a beating in traditional Okinawan karate three times a week. I also take walks (get pulled by) my speckled buffoon of a German Shorthaired Pointer on the beach at dawn and dusk.
Interesting story or fact about me:
When I was 11, my father, brother and I built a trimaran (a sailboat similar to a Hobie Cat) in our backyard and won the World Multihull Championships with it—setting a world speed record in the process. As an adult (at least in age), I won the heavyweight title in the Tennessee State Karate Championships (“…sweep the leg, Daniel-san!”)
